The Lady Cans are a robotics team located in the greater Austin area. We strive to build the courage, confidence, and character of young girls and teach them to strive for success in everything they do. Our mission is to introduce young women to science, technology, engineering, and math principles while developing the skills to be successful in a variety of careers.
Every spring we compete in two FIRST in Texas district events. When we're not at competition, our ladies can be found competing and volunteering in off-season competitions, helping out at GSCTX demos and summer camps, mentoring local FLL teams. We are currently meeting in-person on Fridays 6:30-9:30 PM. During our meetings, our members learn aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering, programming, and CAD, along with a variety of what we call "soft skills". They are encouraged to come up with their own solutions to design challenges and problems. Our members are taught how to effectively communicate as they find ways to express their solutions to their mentors and team members.
