“If you're going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can't be erased.”
— Maya Angelou
Susie Rich, founding mentor of The Lady Cans, died on December 31, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Her impact on the team cannot be overstated. Susie will always be the heart and soul of The Lady Cans.
In 2009, Susie saw the need for girls to have a space they could learn and grow in STEM. To that end, she poured all of her passion, teaching skills, and time into creating and mentoring The Lady Cans robotics team. Her brilliance and love for the team and the girls on it will be remembered by the countless young lives she enriched throughout her years. In addition to her huge impact on the team, Susie also greatly affected the FIRST Robotics and Girl Scout communities. She was always a friendly face, volunteering at FRC competitions and Girl Scout events alike. Susie worked tirelessly to support the FIRST Robotics and Girl Scout communities she cared so much about. |
